Aprons
One of the things that my mama made the most of was aprons. She never made the full size, chef-style aprons.....only the kind that tied around the waist. Her aprons nearly always had a pocket, and that was intended to hold a tissue! Most of her pockets had a tissue in them, and lots of those tissues ended up in the washing machine! She'd fuss about the mess she'd made, and then would say "Well, I don't have anybody to blame but myself", and then she'd laugh! But back to those aprons! She gave aprons to about everybody! As I got older, and I noticed this, I would always warn my friends! I'd say "My mama is gonna give you an apron! Just take it so you don't hurt her feelings." And my friends would always go on and on about those aprons, and how they loved them. I didn't think anybody really ever wore them. As she got up in years, and Alzheimers had robbed her of being able to do alot of the things she had always loved to do, she could still make aprons. And I would continue to warn my friends that they were gonna be the proud owners of one of her aprons. No one ever turned her down. She was too sweet to turn down! Somewhere through the years I started sewing. I made a few tops for my daughters, Kari and Kristin. I started making fabric gift bags for all occasions back in the early 80's. And then one day I decided to make an apron. I made it for me to wear, as I was starting to make a mess of every shirt I owned. Then I decided to make one using Christmas fabric. Next thing I knew I was making them for friends, then for my daughters friends. I made them for wedding gifts, shower gifts, birthday gifts. And I started feeling really bad for making fun of my sweet mama! I'd ask Kari and Kristin if they thought people were making fun of me! Of course they said no! They are now the proud owners of several of my aprons! And I can guarantee you that they will get more in the future! And they won't turn me down. I'm too sweet to be turned down!

I am a proud owner of an apron made by you and I'll cherish it forever. I wear it so most of the time it's got flour or some other food splattered all over it. I will hang it back up and say.."Oh, I better get that back down and wash it"...but alas, it's still hanging there; dirty!
